SIDs

On average in Shropshire, SIDs have reduced speeding in areas by around 20%, this is an affective and proactive measure that Parish Councils have the powers to do to help address speeding. Since 2022 the Parish Council have been working hard to have Speed Indication Devices installed in areas of the parish.

This page is dedicated to keeping you updated on the progress of the SIDs scheme.

Due to funding constraints, we are only able to look at areas in “phases” and those phases would be delivered during separate financial years. We are currently focusing on Ackleton and Worfield in this phase of the scheme. Other areas will be completed in future financial years.

In 2024 we held consultation with the residents whose properties are likely to be directly affected by the SID units in Phase One and are very grateful for their support of this scheme.

Following a great deal of site assessments, management planning and software reviews by Shropshire Councils Highways Department, and our own contractors Morelock Installations Ltd, we received confirmation from Shropshire Council in January 2025 for this scheme to be commissioned. Therefore, our contractors were instructed to commence these works and have ordered all the necessary materials and we await the installation date for these units, we hope this scheme to be delivered in Spring 2025.
